What is a Putting On Ears Stack Edit, and what's included?
A Putting On Ears Stack Edit is a personalized, polished plan for building out your ear stack. It contains your custom ear map, your jewelry curation, or both if you order the full Stack Edit. Think of it as a blueprint for your ear stack: personalized guidance and inspiration for how you develop your piercings and jewelry over time. It's never a requirement to buy or use every recommendation. It's your roadmap to follow at your own pace. For a full breakdown of each service, see my

How should I use my Stack Edit?
Think of your stack edit as a plan with a considered vision, rather than a rigid prescription. It's a curated direction: shapes, placements, and pieces chosen to work together as a whole, designed to inspire and guide you as you build your ear over time. Take it as a complete blueprint, or borrow the parts that speak to you and make it your own; both are exactly how it's meant to be used. Your plan is built around the answers you share when you book, and it arrives as one complete design vision for your ear, ready to use at your own pace. And when you're ready to evolve your stack or take a new direction, a new plan is always here for you.
What if I don't know what I want or where to start?
That's completely fine, and a lot of my clients come to me exactly here. My booking form guides you by capturing the key details, and there's a section to add anything else you'd like me to know. I can build your ear map and/or jewelry curation with however much detail you're able to give.
Why can't I just plan my ear stack myself, or ask my piercer?
You could, and your piercer is the right person to confirm what's safe for your anatomy when you go to get pierced. But choosing multiple pieces of jewelry that flow together cohesively is a different skill, and it's where I save you real money. Piercing studios offer convenience, and you pay for it. Studio jewelry typically carries a significant markup, so buying the same caliber of a piece there costs considerably more than sourcing it independently. The catch is that sourcing well on your own is hard: you have to know what's genuinely high-quality and piercing-safe, and have the eye to choose pieces that actually work together. That's exactly what I do. I curate implant-grade, piercing-safe cartilage jewelry from brands I trust, chosen to suit your ear and flow as a set — so you get a considered, cohesive result and better value for what you spend.
How my service works
How does this all work, and what happens after I book?
Once you've filled in my booking form and uploaded photos of your ears, that's everything I need. The whole ear styling process is completely remote. I study your photos and your answers, then design your Stack Edit and deliver it as a polished PDF. You just indicate your preferences, submit your photos, and wait for your stack edit to land in your inbox.
How long does a Stack Edit take to deliver?
I complete Stack Edits in the order they're received and typically deliver them within 1 to 2 weeks. If you need yours sooner (such as to take to a piercing appointment you’ve already scheduled), get in touch via Instagram/Tiktok DM before you book and I’ll see if I can flag your order to be completed sooner.
Is there a call or live consultation involved?
No need! My ear styling service is designed remotely and asynchronously, built entirely from the photos and information you share on your booking form. That's deliberate: it lets me style ears for clients all over the world, in every time zone, and means you can book whenever suits you without scheduling anything. Everything you'd want to tell me has a home on the form.
Are you available for ongoing input as I build out my stack?
The Putting On Ears Stack Edit is a bespoke styling service, designed to give you guidance for building your stack. Ongoing feedback or additional rounds of recommendations are not included after your delivery. This is how I am able to keep up with my workload and keep my pricing accessible. As your stack evolves into the future, or as you decide to take your style in a new direction over time, you can always come back for a new Stack Edit.
What if I have a question about the Stack Edit I’ve received?
If you need clarification on something within your delivered Stack Edit, I'm happy to help. If your question involves new recommendations, or input on different piercings and/or jewelry than what I've recommended, that falls outside the scope of the original service and would require a new Stack Edit. Each recommendation is designed to work in balance with the others. Changing one element can therefore affect the wider composition and require the styling to be reconsidered as a whole. If you’re considering different placements or jewelry from what I’ve recommended, we can create a new Stack Edit for you.
About my ear maps
I already have several piercings in each ear. Will ear mapping still work for me?
Yes! Whether you're just starting to build an ear stack or looking for fresh ideas to work with the piercings you already have, my ear mapping service meets you where you are. I'll suggest balanced placements that enhance and complete what you've got.
What if there's a piercing I know I want, or definitely don't want?
My booking form asks about exactly this! If there's a piercing you already know you want, or one you know you don't want (or don't have the anatomy for), just include it and I'll factor it into your ear map.
I'm new to ear stacks and only have my first lobes pierced. What should I get next?
My ear mapping service is tailored to wherever you are in your ear stack journey. The booking form asks about how many piercings you'd be interested in getting to build out your stack, and based on your goals I'll recommend a stack that's balanced and intentionally placed, so you have a blueprint for what to get next.
What photos do I need for an ear map?
The quality of your plan depends on the photos you send me. I need clear, well-lit, straight-on photos of each ear so I can see your existing piercings and your ear's anatomy. The good news is that this is genuinely easy to achieve: a phone camera in natural lighting is all it takes, and they're simply submitted via my
booking form.

How does a jewelry curation service help me choose earrings?
Most earring jewelry from reputable retailers is non-returnable for hygiene reasons. A jewelry curation helps you avoid the frustration of buying pieces, only to find they don't suit your ear, your style, or your existing stack. Your ears are unique. I have an understanding of how different silhouettes and elements can serve anatomy to create a certain vision. I help you make thoughtful jewelry choices that match and flow cohesively across your whole ear, so you invest only in pieces that enhance your stack. I also bring a background in jewelry making, which means I understand jewelry sizing down to the millimeter. I check product specs meticulously so the exact piece I recommend is a realistic fit, not just for its placement, but for how it sits alongside everything else in your curation. I'm not just picking what looks good; I'm making sure it all flows together in practice.
What kind of jewelry do you recommend in your curations?
All jewelry I curate is high-quality, hypoallergenic, suitable for sensitive ears, and intended for long-term wear. For cartilage piercings, I exclusively recommend implant-grade titanium or solid gold. This is a non-negotiable part of my practice, based on the materials recommended by reputable piercing professionals for long-term, everyday wear. For lobes, I may also recommend sterling silver, which allows for a wider range of designs and styles. Whatever your budget, I source pieces with quality and value in mind, so you can get the best possible materials for what you spend.
What if I only have a vague idea of what I want for my jewelry curation?
No worries! Your preferences provide a starting point, and the final Stack Edit reflects my professional styling judgment. You're trusting me to make the choices on how everything works together to create a cohesive result. My booking form has a section to capture extra detail if there is something more you want me to consider, and clients have used it to share the general feeling they want their stack to convey, or gemstones they're drawn to. I'll always do my best to reflect your preferences in your curation, as long as I can find pieces that align on quality and budget.
Can I get pierced with the earrings you recommend?
The metals I curate for cartilage piercings, 14k solid gold and/or ASTM F136 implant-grade titanium, are always technically safe for fresh piercings. However, whether you can actually be pierced with a specific piece depends on each studio's policies and whether they allow client-supplied jewelry. I style ears for clients internationally, and piercing studios in different countries have different rules, so you'd want to check with your local piercer.

What's your approach to styling my ears?
My background sits right where ear styling actually happens: I trained in jewelry manufacture, so I understand jewelry sizing down to the millimeter and read product specs closely enough to know whether a piece will genuinely fit its placement and sit well with everything around it. Alongside that, I have 16 piercings of my own and have carefully curated my own ears, so I understand what comprises a beautiful stack from the client's side as much as the expert's. In short, I bring a jeweler's precision, a stylist's eye, and lived experience to every plan.
You sound American but your prices are in British pounds - what's the story?
Hi, I'm Jess! I'm an American expat and have lived abroad since 2016. I'm currently based in the UK, which is why you'll see my ear styling services priced in British pounds.
About my clients
Do your jewelry recommendations work regardless of my country?
Yes. Because I style ears for clients internationally, I always check the country you've written on your intake form before I start, so I can make sure the shops I have in mind for your curation actually ship to you. However, import fees vary by retailer and destination and are not included in my curation service. I recommend checking the shop's terms before purchasing.
Can you curate jewelry for people who wear hearing aids?
In many cases, yes. Depending on the type of hearing device you wear and the photos and info you share, I can curate placements and jewelry that are less likely to interfere. For transparency, I'm not an audiology specialist, but if you show me how your particular device sits in your ear, I can tailor my recommendations around it.
What if I wear a hijab?
I'm happy to style ears for all clients, whatever your background. If you wear a hijab, I especially understand any concern around sharing photos, so rest assured I'd never circulate anyone's photos for before/after features or anything else without their explicit permission.
Do you only style women's ears?
Of course not! While the majority of my clients are women, I can and have styled men's ears too. As long as you have human ears, you're welcome here. (Sorry, doggos!)
Your privacy
What do you do with my photos?
Your photos are used only to create your ear styling plan, and I'd never share or circulate anyone's photos without their explicit permission. I keep them only for as long as I need them. Once your plan is delivered I delete them, unless you've told me you're happy for me to hold onto yours (for example, so we can do a before-and-after feature later). Either way, your ears stay between us.
